Harmonic Signaling, Improving Dynamic Range

Innovation Digital’s proprietary waveform design dramatically improves the dynamic range of communications systems in the presence of interference and distortion. Applications include anti-jam communications and high data rate signaling in crowded signal environments.

The approach uses a comb-like modulation signal to code redundant information in the harmonics of the signal, thereby utilizing harmonic and intermodulation content constructively. Instead of combating nonlinear distortion to improve conventional communications, the harmonic signaling approach uses the previously deleterious effects of nonlinearities (e.g., distortion, signal leakage) to store extra information and significantly improve BER.
