Watch batteries – Power for your watch.
Watches have been around for more than a hundred years. The early watches used spiral springs as methods to make the hands move. This proved to be rather in accurate sometimes and needed to be set or wound up at certain intervals of the week to insure accuracy.
Originally, clocks were moved by the used of weights. This kind of mechanism is too bulky to make the clock a portable one. An inventor named Heinlein produced a watch using spiral springs. These springs were would up to enable the small portable clock to be brought around by the wearer. The pocket watch was born with this invention. The pocket watch was connected to a person by use of a chain. Further, pocket watches evolved to wristwatches and the mechanism used to make the hands move improved greatly in due time. There cam a time that quartz crystals were used to move the hands and to this very day, some manufacturers still use quartz crystals for precise movement.
Battery operated watches came about in 1952. This revolutionized the watch industry. Japan exploited watch batteries and mass produced watches which were very cheap. Soon, almost everybody, even small children were able to use watches. Up to now, watches are still available for a very low price. These are sort of disposable watches and toy watches but still can tell tie accurately, thanks to the watch batteries.
Watch batteries are small button like batteries which were designed for portable electronics products. Common applications for watch batteries are calculators, keyless entry remote controls, hearing aids, laser pointers, electronic toys and games, battery operated children’s books and small LED flashlights. Watch batteries or button cell batteries are usually single cell batteries and contain a minimum of 1.5 volts and a maximum of 3 volts.
Some modern watches also utilize the energy from the body to gain enough energy to make the watch move. There are still watch batteries inside this watch but they are recharged by our bodies’ energy. These kinds of watch batteries do not contain ordinary cells as the ordinary watch batteries. These watch batteries are just conductors of the energy not energy cells on their own. On the other hand, another innovation is solar powered watches. They get energy from the sun so users need not change watch batteries. The makers of these watches assure us that these highly innovative watches are so long lasting that their owners may expire first and the watch will still be going strong.
